I am many people all wrapped up into one. I am a daughter, a mother, a sister, a friend and a partner. I am an employee, a customer, a guest and a patient. I am also a high blood pressured, high cholesteroled, diabetic who suffers from neuropathy. Let’s go ahead and add in my anxiety and my weight problem. Then, we can top it off with a bit of depression. I have issues. We all do. Mine just happen to be health related.
So, why do this? Why publicize my problems on the internet?
- Because it gives other people comfort to know they are not alone.
- Because good ideas are hard to come by.
- Because it could possibly help someone else.
10 years ago I was happy. I drank a lot. I smoked a lot. I was skinnier. BUT, time was just waiting to catch up with me. Fast forward ….and BAM. I’m a mess. As my dad says, “If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself”. Up until a few months ago. Since then, I have made a few changes. Now, things are beginning to look a little different. So, what happened?
I woke up one morning and couldn’t hardly walk. My ankles are weak and the nerve damage in my feet is horrible. That morning was just worse than the others for no particular reason. I hobbled to the kitchen and took twelve pills. Yes, it was TWELVE. And that was just the morning doses. I sat on the couch with my coffee and thought to myself, “I cannot keep doing this.” Ugh. The pills for my nerve damage caused me to be so tired. The pills for my sugars upset my stomach and the pills for my anxiety made me anxious. Seriously.
I decided right then that I had to do something different:
- I needed to quit eating so much
- I needed to exercise
- I had to get my anxiety under control
- I wanted to get off some of those medications
How was I going to do it? I had no idea. I started looking online and came across a post about CBD oil and how it helped with pain. I did a LOT of research. I read articles. I watched videos. I even checked with my doctor (who looked at me a little funny at first). But, I learned quite bit. Once I started taking CBD, I started to try other things to better my life.
I wanted to try meditation. I wanted to learn to connect to nature. I wanted to find alternative ways to make myself healthier. I was looking for a way to take advantage of all the things mother nature was giving away for free; plants, salves, oils, etc. I wanted to touch the earth.
This website is exactly that.
